Dear Student

Here is the answer to your query:

Palaeolithic age was the earliest period of history. The word palaeolithic is made up of Greek words ‘palaeo’ meaning old and ‘lithos’ meaning stone. Thus, it represented the Old Stone Age on the basis of the stone tools that were found during this time. This period extended from 2 million years ago to about 12,000 years ago. It was divided into Lower, Middle and Upper Palaeolithic age and covered 99% of human history. Palaeolithic sites have been found in India near Hunsgi, Bhimbetka and Kurnool.
