What do you mean by chlorophyllous and non-chlorophyllous members of symbiotic organisms

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

Chlorophyllous means those organisms of symbiotic association that posses chlorophyll and can perform photosynthesis.

Non chlorophyllous means those organisms of symbiotic association that do not posses chlorophyll and cannot perform photosynthesis. Hence, depend on chlorophyllous for food.

For example, Lichen is the association between algae and fungi. In this association, algae is chlorophyllous as its contains chlorophyll and synthesises food. The fungi is non chlorophyllous as it lacks chlorophyll and depends on algae for food. However, it helps algae in attachment with substrate and absorption of water and minerals.

Hope this information will clear your doubts about the chlorophyllous and non chlorophyllous.
