The jelly-like substance present between the cell membrane and the nucleus is called the cytoplasm that contains vital organelles of the cell. Its main functions are
- It is the site of important biochemical reactions like respiration etc that maintain life.
- It is the site where cell growth take place.
- Also cytoskeleton found in cytoplasm gives the shape to the cell.
- It facilitates the movement of particles in the cell.
