What do you mean by cytoplasm ? Why it is Important?

The jelly-like substance present between the cell membrane and the nucleus is called the cytoplasm that contains vital organelles of the cell. Its main functions are 

  • It is the site of important biochemical reactions like respiration etc that maintain life. 
  • It is the site where cell growth take place. 
  •  Also cytoskeleton found in cytoplasm gives the shape to the cell.
  •  It facilitates the movement of particles in the cell.
