Silviculture is the practice of protecting, controlling, managing forests for the sustained use of human kind. Under this practice various methods are adopted so that forests, trees are regenerated, replenished and kept healthy. 

Silviculture has been taken up as an important program to replenish the depleting forests by planting more trees. 

The advantages of silviculture are listed below.

* It helps to maintain the water cycle on earth
