What do you mean by stabilizer? Why is urea used as a stabilizer in storing hydrogen peroxide?
Dear Student,
Stabilisers are chemical compounds used in floatation method is used for removing gangue from sulphide ores. Stabilisers are added to stabilize the froth. Examples of stabilizers added are e.g., cresols, aniline.
Urea is used as stabilizer for storing hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is basically used for bleaching purpose. To get more satisfactory bleaching action from hydrogen peroxide alklies are added to it in order to make it alkaline. Alkaline dilute solution of hydrogen peroxide as it helps in removing impurities. But alkaline solution of hydrogen peroxide is unstable so urea is added to make it stable.
