What do you understand by caste movements
Solution:
Caste is a social identity. In India, Castes are divided into four significant groups Brahaman, Kshatriya, Vaishya, and Shudra. In Shudras, some of the caste groups are considered untouchables.
To abolish this discrimination many great reformers tried to change this social exclusion:
(a) Dr. B.R. Ambedkar started the temple entry movement for scheduled caste in 1926.
(b) E.V. Ramaswamy Naicker famously known as Periyar started the self-respect movement in 1925. He abolished caste discrimination through it.
(c) Jyotirao Phule had written 'Gulamgiri', in that he described shudra's life.
