what does "dirty yellow tinge" mean in the lesson deep water?

Dirty yellow tinge reffers to the condition of water when Douglas was drowning. Due to the presence of sun overhead, the water seemed yellow and dirt particles could be seen.

If it is so then why did the author at the starting of the lesson say "The water was still, and the tiled bottom was as white and clean as a bathtub." ?

I think it refers to the fear of Douglas in that situation that made him see the yellow glow.

The yellow water refers to the colour of the water which Douglas saw when he was drowning....this was because of sun overhead and particles easily visible...

well girl because jo upar se dikhta woh hi hamesha sahi nhi hota Just because you see the water crystal clear, doesn't mean it is potable. Guy is ri8 abt d sun part. dirty yellow could be because of his vision which altered in water i.e boht logo ka paani mei sab blur blur dikhta h

Dirty word is due to presence of dirt particles or as he was inside the water his vision is blur

It means that the sun was heating up the water he felt warmth because of it and underwater, as it is everything appears blurry. Also taking in account his exhausted state the water appears dirty yellow.
