what does it mean when the galvanometer deflects to the left side,i.e, to the negative side?

The galvanometer detects the presence of current in a circuit. Suppose we have coil and we bring a magnet towards it. The galvanometer shows deflection to one side, say right. This means there is an induced current in the circuit moving in certain direction. If the magnet is receded away, the galvanometer shows a deflection but in opposite direction. This indicates the direction of the induced current has changed. The deflection of the galvanometer indicates the presence of current and is also  sensitive to the direction of the induced current.
