 What does M 2+ /M and   M 3+ /M 2+   mean?

M2+/M means M2+ state is reduced into M.by gaining 2e while M2+/M3+ means M3+ state is reduced into M2+ .

M2+ + 2e ------------------> M

M2+ + e -------------------> M3+
