what does sublimable volatile component and non-sublimable impurity mean?

Dear Student,
The sublimable volatile substance is those which convert directly from solid to gas upon heating.
Non-sublimable impurities are those which are non-volatile and do not go to the vapor phase on heating.
Example: a mixture of sand and naphthalene.
Sand is non-sublimable while napthalene is volatile and sublimable

Sublimation is the method of separation used to separate a mixture of salt and ammonium chloride. Explanation: 1)Take a tripod stand and place wire gauze on it. 2)Place a china dish on the wire gauze. 3)The mixture must be taken it the china dish. 4)It must be covered with a glass funnel in an inverted position. 5)The upper end of the funnel must be closed with cotton plug. 6)Switch on the Bunsen burner. 7)As mixture is heated, ammonium chloride gets released in form of gas and gets collected in the funnel whereas the salt remains in the dish. By this way a mixture of salt and ammonium chloride is separated.

Process of conversion of material from solid state to gaseous state without undergoing into liquid state is called sublimation. ... Whereas, the non sublimable impurities remains at the bottom of the flask. For example, some sublimable compounds are iodine, ammonium chloride, naphthalene, camphor, etc.
