What does tally bar signify ?

Dear student,
Tally bars are the vertical lines that are used for keeping the count of the frequency of any statistical data. Each tally bar denoted as '|' keeps the count of one. These are useful in the collection of data in statistical analysis. Tally bars are the fastest way of keeping the count of numbers in groups of five that is written as four vertical lines and each of the fifth line cuts the previous four diagonally as shown below:
