What does the scientific method help test in environmental science?

The scientific method is an objective method to explorer the natural world, draw inference from it and predict the outcome of certain events processes and changes.The scientific method helps to test and arrive at a conclusion for a variety of hypotheses that are created when studying environmental science. 
Ex: Various tests are conducted on animals to confirm the interference drawn about the influence of certain chemicals present in our environment and hence their effect on human life.
