What does this mean, ws written in uses of hydogen chloride..

for extracting glue from bones and purifying bone black..!!

Hydrochloric acid is an important reagent that has wide applications in many industries. One such use for commercial purposes is in the extraction of glue from animal bones. The bones contain the connective tissue collagen, which shows excellent adhesive properties. The bones are treated with different chemical, after which hydrochloric acid is used to remove minerals like calcium phosphate present in the bone. The obtained collagen is then washed to remove acid, dried and further processed to obtain glue.

Bone black, also known bone char is a form of charcoal which is produced by heating animal bones in limited amount of air. It is a very good adsorbent and thus used for removing coloured impurity of liquids. HCl is used to purify this bone char.
