what experience dose maxwell get after adopting an otter as a pet?

Maxwell got much engrossed with Mijbil. He observed his little antics. The loss of a beloved pet dog may never be compensated for but, the otter brought a new life to the narrator. Mijbil played with balls, water, shells, etc. He further put to display his rationality as is evident by his attempt of opening the tap and his game of rolling balls on the slanted suitcase. The author grew much attached to Mijbil and loved him dearly. He used to take him for walks wherever he wanted. He once draws a parallel between the habits of children returning from school and Mijbil returning from a walk. This suggests that he almost considered Mijbil as a child to him, for whom he felt responsible, for whom he cared and who was a source of joy for him.
