What happen when a copper vessel is exposed to moist air for long? Also write the equation.

Solution:
If copper vessel is exposed to moisture and atmospheric gases for long, it turns green due to corrosion.
Corrosion of Copper occurs in presence of oxygen to form copper oxide.
Copper oxide then reacts with carbon dioxide (CO2) to form copper carbonate (CuCO3). This gives the green color.

Cu(s) + H2O(g) + CO2(g) + O2(g)  Cu(OH)2.CuCO3
