What happens if a magnetic needle is suspended at the magnetic poles?

Dear Student

If a compass needle be kept at magnetic pole of the earth then the compass needle may stay in any direction as the earth has only vertical component of its magnetic field at the magnetic field at the magnetic poles and compass needle is free to rotate in horizontal plane.
