what happens to the poet after listining of the patter of the rain?

In this poem, the poet has talked about the rain which produces a tinkle or sonorous type of sound when falls on the roof. He has also talked about the memories of his mother in which he got lost often.
As the rain patters on the roof, the poet enjoys listening to the music of the rain while sleeping on a cosy bed. He often got lost in the old memories of his mother who would tuck him in the bed while he slept. Getting lost in the old memory he got very sad as his mother was not now with him and transferred an epithet - melancholy darkness weeping. He observed the rain falling as tears falling from the humid shadows .
