what happens when a fully turgid plant cell is placed in a hypertonic solution ?

When a fully turgid plant cell is placed in a hypertonic solution, water moves out, first from cytoplasm and then from vacuole. Cell membrane shrinks away from the cell wall. This phenomenon is known as plasmolysis.

When the cell is kept in hypertonic solution , plasmolysis process takes place which is the removal of water from cell when it is kept in hypertonic solution due to exoosmosis. Due to this process the cytoplasm in the cell gets shrinked and concentrated in the middle of the cell.
