What happens when dilute sulphuric acid is added to a mixture of iron and sulphur?

Dear Student

When dilute sulphuric acid is added to a mixture of iron fillings and sulphur powder, reaction occurs between dilute sulphuric acid and iron filings that forms ferrous sulphate and evolution of hydrogen.

 Fe +  H2SO4 =  FeSO4 +  H2

When dilute sulphuric acid is poured on a copper plate, no reaction takes places due to less reactivity of copper...
