What happens when liquid ammonia is kept in open air? Why ?

Liquid ammonia is ammonia dissolved in water. the boiling point of liquid ammonia is -33 degrees celsius. So, once the bottle is opened the ammonia evaporates. This is the reason why liquid ammonia should be cooled before opening.

Ammonia gas can be dissolved in water. When this happen it is called liquid ammonia. People most often encounter ammonia as a liquid chemical in cleaning product. Once exposed to open air, liquid ammonia quickly turns into gas.
