what happens when sodium hydroxide is heated

Metal Hydroxides decompose when heated very strongly into steam and Metal Oxides or just Metals, but Sodium is too reactive to leave its compound, so NaOH will be safe. The aqueous part though, the solvent water, will evaporate, and you might see white crystals of NaOH forming in the saturated solution.
