What happens when there is no rain and no other source of water? From where does the farmer get water from???

The farmer uses several other methods for irrigation when there is no rainfall.
He may use water from canals or he may go for such crops that require less water.
Also, tube-wells are a good source of water. He may use drip irrigation in his field.
