What heterozygous and homozygous organisms

Dear student,
Heterozygous means having two different alleles in a gene. In this, the organism has inherited different form of gene from each parent.
Eg: Tt is heterozygous for tall.

Homozygous means having same alleles in the gene. In this case the individual has inherited same form of gene from both the parents.
Eg: TT is homozygous tall and tt is homozygous dwarf.

Individual organisms carrying two identical alleles (for example RRor rr ) are called homozygous. While individual organisms bear different alleles (for example Rr) are called Heterozygous.
