what if the calcium level goes high in the blood?
If calcium level increases in blood it leads to the condition called as hypercalcemia. The level of calcium in blood is controlled by two hormones Parathyroid hormone (PTH) and calcitonin. Parathyroid raise the calcium level and calcitonin decrease it. But when there is excessive secretion of Parathyroid hormone (PTH), it leads to high increase of calcium level in blood which results in kidney failure, muscle weakness, altered urine concentration in blood, abnormal heartbeats etc.
