What is 2D and 3D figure? How to find faces, vertices, edges etc of the shape?

Hi!

Any figure that can be drawn by knowing two dimensions i.e. any two among length, breadth and height, then such type of figure is called a 2D figure. 2D figures are flat.
Example: rectangle, square, parallelogram quadrilateral, pentagon, triangle etc.

Any figure that can be drawn by knowing three dimensions i.e. length, breadth and height, then such type of figure is called a 3D figure. 3D shapes are solid.
Example: cuboid, cube, cone, cylinder, sphere etc.

The polygonal regions in the shapes are called the faces. The faces meet to form line segments which are known as edges. The edges meet at the points which are known as vertices. To find faces, vertices, edges etc of a shape, you need to visualize a shape and simply count them. For example, the number of faces, edges and vertices of the following shape (a triangular pyramid) are 4, 6 and 4 respectively.

Hope! You got the concept.
Cheers!
