What is a legend?Why is this poem called legend?

A legend is an old traditional story, usually with a moral. They are mainly narrated to small children, so that they learn some values of life from childhood.
The poet herself says that doesn't believe this story to be true. This poem is legend because preaches the value of generosity towards your fellow wings.
