DEAR STUDENT
Nyaya Panchayat is an important institution of the Panchayati Raj System. It has the powers of local court. Though its members are elected by the Gram Panchayat only but no member of Gram Panchayat can be elected as the member of Nyaya Panchayat. The main aim of establishing this institution was to reduce hassles and fast redressal of public grievances at the grass root level.
(1). Nyaya panchayat, or the village court provides speedy justice to the villagers.
(2). It has more than one village under its control. It deals with petty cases such as theft etc.The nyaya panchayat has            right to fine an offender but not send him to jail.
(3). These nyaya panchayats are guided by local village traditions and customs.

(4). Generally, there is one Nyaya panchayts for every two or three villages. Each village panchayat elects a member          to the nyaya panchayat which is headed by a Sarpanch. It hears minor civil and criminal cases.
