What is a peninsula? Which water bodies surround Indian peninsula?

  • A peninsula is a piece of land that is almost entirely surrounded by water but is connected to the mainland on one side.
  • Southern part of India is in triangular shaped and surrounded by water bodies on three sides and land on the other; therefore we can say it is a Peninsula.
  • Indian peninsula is surrounded by Arabian sea on the west, Bay of Bengal on the east and Indian ocean on the south.
