What is a pie chart used for(in points)?

Dear Student,

A pie chart is a statistical representation tool used to show relative proportions or contributions to a whole.

It is used :
  • To show the data in a charted form so that we can grasp the information visually.
  • To represent a single data series and a few components in which the series is divided.
  • To show the composition of a data i.e. what categories is the data divided into.
  • To compare the proportions different components in a data series

For example : A teacher makes a pe chart of the different sports that the students in a class play. This pie chart will tell
us the different sports played by the student, the proportion of students in each sport and which sport is the most or least popular among students. Also, this pie chart will make it easy for us to grasp the proportions of different sports as this information is represented visually.
