what is accountability.is it orginate from a superior or subordinate? pls explain with an example

Dear student,

Accountability means answerability. It is an obligation of an individual to perform the work assigned to him and report it to his superior. Accountability cannot be delegated.
Accountability arises from responsibility. It flows upwards i.e from subordinate to superior.
For example:- Marketing head gives an employee a task of completing a project, and he knows that if he does not finish it on time he will be liable for it, so the employee is accountable to marketing head.

Hello Lad ,
Accountability ==> It implies being answerable for the final outcome.
Once authority has been delegated and responsibility accepted, one cannot deny accountability.

Accountability is the obligation of a subordinate to perform the duties assigned to him. When the work is assigned and authority is delegated then the accountability is the by-product of this process.Authority flows downward whereas accountability flows upward. The subordinate should be made accountable to only one superior.
For example: When an employee is given the task for making sure a project goes right and knows she will be blamed if it doesn't,she can also be said to have accountability for the project.
