Amplitude: When a mechanical wave propagates through a medium, the particles of the medium begin to vibrate or oscillate about its mean position. Amplitude is the maximum displacement of a particle from its mean position.

When you drop a stone on a pond, you can see the water waves. I've shown the amplitude and the mean position of the water molecules on the surface of water.

Frequency: Frequency (ν) is the number of complete oscillations or vibrations in 1 s. It is the inverse of time period (T).

So, the frequency is,

Time period is the time taken to complete one oscillation. It is measured in second, s.
