Penicillin is an antibiotic which kills bacteria. Bacteria have cell wall, penicillin interferes with the formation of the bacterial cell wall. The bacteria without cell wall becomes weak and can not survive. Thus, get killed.

Penicillin (PCN or pen) is a group of antibiotics which include penicillin G (intravenous use), penicillin V (use by mouth), procaine penicillin, and benzathine penicillin (intramuscular use). How it works? Penicillin works by indirectly bursting bacterial cell walls. It does this by acting directly on peptidoglycans, an important part of bacteria's structure. Hope this is helpful to you.
