what is ATP

ATP stands for adenosine triphosphate and is the energy currency of the cell. Many biochemical reactions in our body require energy in the form of ATP like active transport of molecules across the cell, synthesis of macromolecules like DNA, RNA and proteins, signal transduction, etc.
