Brunner s gland are present in the sub-mucosa of duodenum ( a part of small intestine) .They are the characteristic feature of duodenum.Their functions includes
- To produce a mucus-rich alkaline secretion (containing bicarbonate) in order to protect the duodenum from the acidicc content of chyme coming from the stomach
- To provide an alkaline condition for the activation of intestinal enzymes
- To lubricate the intestinal walls
