Grouping different substances on the of their similarities and dissimilarities is called classification.
1.It helps in systematic study of objects.
2.It helps in identifying and locating things
3.It helps to know that how the group is differ from those of other groups.

    1) They provide an organized way to associate a name and information with each and every organism scientists have formally described. This makes it easier to identify an organism. 
    2) They describe the relationships between different organisms by placing similar organisms into groups. Modern classification systems try to group organisms based on hypotheses about their evolutionary relations.
