What is cytoplasm? Explain in brief.

Dear student,

The gel (jelly) like substance found in a cell is called the cytoplasm. The cellular organelles remain embedded in the cytoplasm. The cytoplasm along with the cellular organelles is called protoplasm i.e.,
Cytoplasm + Organelles=Protoplasm,
or,
Protoplasm - Organelles = Cytoplasm.

Cytoplasm is the semi - solid present in the cell enclosed by the cell membrane. It is composed of water, salt and protein,etc...
It is is external to nucleus and internal to plasma membrane. It is also where other organelles are present.
