what is diabetes insipidus

Dear Student,

Diabetes insipidus is a condition in which the kidneys are unable to conserve water. The amount of water conserved is controlled by antidiuretic hormone (ADH), also called vasopressin.

As the result of  excretion of abnormally large volumes of dilute urine, people with DI may quickly become dehydrated if they do not drink enough water.
