What is diff. B/w GOI and Desired gene?
How is PROBE related to them?

Dear student,
Please find below the answer:

Gene of interest (GOI) is the gene that brings about the desired phenotype. e.g. antibiotic resistance genes of bacteria are a gene of interest for researchers.

The desired gene could be used alternatively with the gene of interest. e.g. To bring resistance to pests in plants, certain desired gene is taken out from a suitable source and are injected into the plants having any such issue.

A probe is polymorphic DNA that shows diversity in sequences and used in hybridization techniques of molecular biology to find target complementary sequence in the genome. Many different probes are used to generate DNA fingerprints.

Hope this clears your doubt.
Regards.
