What is valency of N2 of N2 and why.

N represents the atom nitrogen and N2 represents the gas dinitrogen which is a diatomic molecule made by formation of triple bond between 2 nitrogen atoms.
The electrons in outermost shell of nitrogen is 5 hence by formation of 3 covalent bonds , three more electrons are shared thus completing the octet of these atoms.
Hence valency of nitrogen in N2 is 3.
