what is difference between Proper noun or common noun

Dear Student,

Proper nouns are names of persons, place, things, etc. They are always capitalised.
Eg : Sita, Gita, Dehradun

A common noun is the generic name given to a person, place or thing in a group or class.
Eg : man, river, pen
