What is differentiation? With the help of diagram

Dear student.

Tissues are a group of cells which work together to perform a specific function. During the time of development, by the process of gene expression and cell signalling pathway, tissues undergo differentiation to perform specialized functions. In multicellular organisms, tissue differentiation is important as multicellular organisms show division of labour. They have various tissues which make up organs and organ systems which perform specific functions. This helps in maintenance and coordinated action of the complex body processes.

Example:  Roots, stems, and leaves include all three tissue types such as ground, vascular, and dermal, and each type of tissue performs specific functions.
