What is epiblema?

1.Epiblema is the outermost covering of the root formed by single layer of compactly arranged barrel-shaped, parenchyma cells which are involved in absorption of water. Some of the epiblema cells are produced into long unicellular projections called root hairs. Hence, the epiblema is also known as piliferous layer. There are no cuticle and stomata on the epiblema.
2.Pectin is a complex carbohydrate found in the cell walls of plants. It also present in the middle lamella between plant cells, where it helps to bind cells together.
