extracellular digestion is the process in which saprobionts feed by secreting enzymes through the cell membrane onto the food. OR the process in which the animals which lack a digestive tract bring food  items to the cell for the purpose of digestion and nutritional needs

intracellular digestion is the process in which the breakdown of substance takes place inside the cytoplasm of the cell
