what is geothermal energy ? pls xplain in more detail
- Geothermal energy is the heat energy in the Earth’s interiors.
- The temperature at the centre of the Earth is about 6000°C.
- In some areas, molten rock (magma) is found very close to the surface of the Earth.
- This hot rock meets underground water and heats it up. This produces steam. Such a place is known as a hot spot.
- Sometimes, this heated underground water finds an outlet through which it comes out on the surface of the Earth. Such outlets are known as hot springs.
- Geothermal energy is naturally replenishable.
