inbreeding depression is a condition seen in self pollinating plants.

when self pollination occurs there is no variation seen (i.e. offspring exactly similar to parent {CLONE}).

due to this the offspring is not well adapted to the environment .

(for better adaptation we need variation which can occur only when pollens of different plant falls on stigma of different plant of same species).

plants develop various methods to prevent self-pollination.

(this is due to inbreeding depression .)
