What is iupac name of (CH3)3 ??

Dear friend,
As far as I know, this compound has no unique IUPAC name. This is because of the following reasons:
1. The compound that you have shown cannot exist independently, i.e. if it was propane, the structure would be: H3C - CH2 - CH3 [C3H8 = CnH2n+2, where n=3]. The compound that you have shown has the formula C3H9, where the extra 'H' cannot be accommodated anywhere.

2. If you were referring that this group to be attached to the parent chain of any compound, then keep in mind that this wouldn't have an individual name.
For instance: H3C - CH2 - C(CH3)3.
If we were trying to name this compound, what should one name it as?
Well, this is simple... One of the '-CH3s' would become part of the parent chain, like:

                      CH3
                      /
H3C - CH2 - C - CH3                    Now, this would become: 2,2 dimethyl butane [IUPAC Name].
                     /
                  CH3

3. Another possibility: The given compound in the question misses an atom, hence, the IUPAC name cannot be given, due to an incomplete question. Kindly check the same and ask the same question with the required corrections.

I hope this helps.
P.S. Experts, please do correct me if I am wrong.
