What is known as Pataeolithic Period ?

Dear Student,

Paleolithic age is also known by the name of Old Stone Age. It covered a long period from the time the first ancestors of modern human beings started living in the Indian subcontinent, i.e., from roughly 3lakh BC -8th millenium BC.

It is an exponential time span. Hence, archeologists divided it into three phases--

• The lower/early
• The Middle
• The Upper
