- Tropic of Cancer divides our country India into almost two equal halves.
- India is in Northern Hemisphere. It extends between 8°4′N to 37°6′N. Its southern extent is 8°4′N and northern extent is 37°6'N. It is important to note that Letter N is used after northern and southern extent. It is so because, India is in Northern Hemisphere
- The North-South extent is 3214 km. in India. As Tropic of Cancer passes through 8 states :- Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tripura and Mizoram, respectively.
