what is law of limiting factors ?how would rate of photosynthetic be afffected if soil water becomes limiting?explain

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

Law of Limiting factor was given by Blackmann. This law governs the rate of photosynthesis. According to this law, the process of photosynthesis is controlled by many factors but the rate of photosynthesis will depend on the factor which is present in limited quantity.

For example, photosynthesis depends on carbon dioxide concentration, light intensity, water, presence of chlorophyll. If all factors are present but light intensity is low then light will become the limiting factor and rate of photosynthesis will depend only on light , the limiting factor.

Water is indirectly required for the process of photosynthesis as plants require it to maintain their temperature and carry other metabolic activities. Water also controls the opening and closing of stomata. If concentration of water decreases or it becomes limiting factor, the rate of photosynthesis decreases.  Mainly water is obtained in the form of soil water by plants for photosynthesis.
