Leghaemoglobin is a red colour pigment present in root nodules of nitrogen-fixing leguminous plants. The pigment is similar to the haemoglobin of the red blood cells. Leghaemoglobin has the ailiy to combine very rapidly wih oxygen and thus acts as a O2 scavenger.
